Dear Families:

As the 2015-16 school year comes to an end, I wanted to take the time to thank you again for being part of our Federal Hocking Family.  We accomplished a lot during this school year and we couldn’t have done it without your help and support.  Some of the highlights for our students this year:

·         Carried out a food drive that raised almost $4,000 for three local food pantries.

·         Through our Angel Tree fundraisers, provided Christmas gifts for over 40 area children.

·         Planned and carried out our first ever school-wide service day where all of our students in grades 7-12 spent time in the community at places such as Friends and Neighbors Food Pantry, Arcadia Nursing Home, Gifford Park, as well as many others.  They cleaned, planted, painted, repaired, and engaged in other important tasks to help those in need.

·         Many juniors and seniors participated in our internship program, learning about potential careers and the world of work in area government offices, law offices, hospitals, vet clinics, farms, and elementary schools, among others.

·         Students won citations in the Governor’s Art Show and in the Ohio Art Teachers’ “Emerging Artists” show.  Also, the FH Art Club hosted their 5th annual 8 x 10 Photography Exhibit where 16 of our middle and high school students displayed their work at ArtsWest.

·         The FH Drama Club produced “Peter/Wendy” in the spring while the middle school drama club presented “Stone in the Road” for both Coolville and Amesville Elementary Schools.

·         The FH Marching Band department participated in many area parades and festivals.  Both the Middle and High School Concert Bands as well as the Jazz Band put on three concerts throughout the year including their performance at the annual Spring Arts Festival, a collaboration between the music, art, and drama clubs.

·         Our 8th graders took their annual field trip this year to Gettysburg and Hershey Park as well as a formal dinner and dance.

·         Both middle school girls basketball teams won the regular season league championships and participated in their respective league tournament championship games.

·         Federal Hocking Seniors were awarded over $239,000 in scholarships for post-secondary schools.

These are just some of the many achievements and accomplishments of our students this past school year. Thanks to all of the students, parents, teachers, staff, and community partners for your efforts. You are just one of the many reasons why Federal Hocking has, "Small Schools, Big Futures."

Sincerely,

Cliff Bonner

Principal, Federal Hocking Middle/High School
